Pacific Poker Hand Grabber does 2 things, both of which are very handy for a serious poker player:

  • Save your own hand histories.
  • Datamining.

The program itself is very simple to use, which makes life easy for those of us who just want to get the hand histories without any fuss, however, some people may miss more advanced features f.x. the ability to have the program automatically open tables for datamining. You can see a screenshot of the program right after installation below.

Save Pacific Poker Hand Histories

Pacific Poker doesn’t save your own hand histories in a format that you can use in a pokertracker, so if you want to use Pokertracker og Holdem Manager at Pacific Poker, you will need a handgrabber.

There has been talk about a new version of the Pacific Poker software that will save hand histories, however, it is still in development – And judging from my past experiences with Pacific Pokers software, it will probably be a loooong time before the new software is ready.

Datamine on Pacific Poker

In addition to saving hand histories from the games you participate in, Pacific Poker Hand Grabber also allow you to datamine i.e. save hand histories from games you do not participate in.

This is a very useful feature, since you can gain information about your opponents before you play your first hand against them. Using the datamined hand histories effectively obviously require that you have a pokertracker fx. Pokertracker 3 or Holdem Manager, so you can get statistics about your opponents play displayed right on the table.

Datamining won’t turn a loser into a winner, however, it will make it much easier to identify weak players, since you can see their general tendencies right from the beginning, instead of having to play 15-30 hands first. The advantage you gain from this isn’t big by any means, however, it will be repeated each time you play, and over time be compounded into a lot of extra money.
