Ongame Hand Grabber
Idleminer’s Ongame Hand Grabber enable you save your own hand histories as well as datamine on Ongame.
The program is a part of Idleminer’s “Hand Grabber” series, which means that it is very easy to use, but doesn’t offer any extra features. This is ideal for players who are new to datamining, since all you have to do is open the program as well as some tables on Ongame, and you are datamining.
Experienced dataminers will probably miss some more advanced features such as a table opener, which would make the datamining more efficient when you are away from your computer by automatically opening and closing tables.

Ongame Hand Histories
Ongame doesn’t save normal hand histories – instead they use a database format. Fortunately both Pokertracker 3 and Holdem Manager can import hand histories from the database, so you won’t need a handgrabber if you just want to import your own hand histories.
Ongame Hand Grabber save the datamined hand histories as a normal text file on your computer, which can be a bit confusing if you aren’t familiar with this. Both Pokertracker 3 and Holdem Manager can import the hand histories saved by Ongame Hand grabber.
Pokertracker, Holdem Manager and Ongame
There are a long history of problems with the databases Ongame use for saving hand histories, and both Holdem Manager and Pokertracker 3 was occasionally missing hands when I tested them – This was at the time of writing this article, so it may have been corrected in the mean time.
If you are having problems with PT3/HM skipping hands, you may be able to solve the problem by using Ongame Hand Grabber to save hand histories from your own games, and import those instead of the “read Ongame hand histories”.
I wouldn’t recommend buying Ongame Hand Grabber just to get your own hand histories, unless missing the occasional hand is a big issue for you. The real value of the program lies in it’s ability to datamine on Ongame, and this is what is worth the money.

As you probably know Ongame have new poker software…
is it working with this new client?
Thanks a lot for posting this.
I have just tested on Eurobet Poker, and Ongame Hand Grabber doesn’t work with the new client.
I’m fairly confident that Idleminer will update it, since that is what they have done when other rooms have updated their software.
If they are making an update for the new Ongame client it will most likely take some time, since it can be a considerable amount of work and possibly require them to create a whole new handgrabber.
If you are used to having datamined hands, I think your best bet is to buy Ongame hand histories from Hand HQ (I don’t play at Ongame at the moment, so I don’t know if they allow it).
It is not a perfect substitute, but it is the best suggestion I can give at the moment.
but do you know if they are datamining new software?
David from Hand HQ has just confirmed that they can still datamine Ongame and have fresh hand histories.
Direct quote from the email he sent
I have now spoken with Idleminer, and they are working on an update that will make Ongame Hand Grabber work with Ongame’s new software.
I have written a little update on the situation here.
Hi,
Yes the new version working with ongame P5 is available. It is working but there is a big problem: Ongame is automatically closing your session when there is no activity from you. So it is not possible to handgrabbe during the night for example. At the maximum, you will handgrabbe only 1000 hands and then all will be closed! Is there a software that can simulate some activity by closing and opening new tables (I used the tableopener called eyeongame but it does not work anymore with P5!!!)?
Hi Patrick,
I have spoken with Mr_Snood and he said that he expect EyeOnGame‘s table opener to be up and running in “a few weeks”. If I know him right, he is working very hard on finding a solution.
In the meantime I think your best bet is to simply buy hand histories from Hand HQ. I have written a short article about them here.
Another option may be to write an AHK script that will open/close tables for you. But it would cost you more to have coded than the cost of a few weeks worth of hand histories (at least if I were doing the coding).
