Why Handgrabber Cracks are Dangerous

by Jake (Handgrabber.NET) on May 14, 2009

Handgrabber cracks are small programs that enable you to use a handgrabber without buying it. Most people know that this is illegal, however, it is far from all who think about how dangerous it can be.

How does a Handgrabber Crack Work?

A handgrabber crack, like any other crack, work by making small changes to the program, so it doesn’t require a registration key or other kinds of proof that you bought it.

This means that when you download and use a crack for a handgrabber, you are running a program that was either created or modified by the people who made it available for download.

This person could easily have included a keylogger or virus in the crack, and that way trick you into installing it on your computer.

A screwed person could even make sure that the handgrabber will work flawlessly, and after 2 weeks unleash a keylogger on your computer.

Why Handgrabber Cracks are More Dangerous than a Crack for Word

Don’t get me wrong – you shouldn’t steal software. But stealing poker software is an especially bad idea.

Handgrabbers are mostly used by pretty serious poker players, who usually have a decent amount of money sitting in their account at a pokerroom.

This means that poker players are a pretty good target if you are looking to steal money from someone. By disgusing a keylogger as a hangrabber you would not only be sure that the person who download it have money online – You would also know where, since nobody downloads a Pacific Poker handgrabber unless they actually play at Pacific Poker (or one of the skins).

If we compare this to something like Microsoft Word it is pretty apparent that handgrabbers are a much better target if you want to steal somebody’s money.

Word are used by pretty much everybody, and the majority of people don’t have thousands of dollars floating around online.

Therefore you would be able to get a keylogger installed on many more computers if you disguised it as Microsoft Word, however, you wouldn’t be able to gain very much from it, since you would have to sort through hundreds of peoples computers before you find one that actually have money you can steal.

With a handgrabber, you can be pretty sure that there are money to steal on the majority of the computers it gets installed on.

Doesn’t Antivirus Software Protect My Computer?

Antivirus software usually offer you a great deal of protection against malicious persons, however, it is not perfect, and cannot protect you against everyting.

If you download a program with a keylogger in it, and run it on your computer, you could easily end up giving it more or less free reign to bypass your antivirus software.

It cannot protect you against yourself, and if you install something on your computer and ask for it to be run, there are a pretty good chance that this is what will happen, even if it contains a keylogger.

This is obviously a somewhat simplified description of how antivirus software works, however, a general rule of thumb is that it simply cannot protect you against things you install yourself.
